The 66-year-old, whose birthday is on Wednesday, appeared to be celebrating early with a lunch at Caffe Roma in Beverly Hills.
With a straw cowboy hat, American flag jewellery, camouflage shorts and aviator sunglasses, the Terminator actor looked like a force to be reckoned with. The Terminator actor left the Italian restaurant with friends and climbed into his enormous beloved green Hummer, which runs on a mixture of hydrogen and vegetable oil.
Meanwhile, when he’s not filling up on carb-heavy Mediterranean cuisine, California’s former governor has been intent on keeping up his muscular physique for Terminator: Genesis, which is a sequel to the 1984 original. During a UK press conference for his film Sabotage, Schwarzenegger said of his role in the upcoming film: ‘I felt very honored because everyone else was replaced in the movie, I felt very honored that they got me back in the movie, I love that character, you know playing a machine.’
The series’ fifth installment looks like a return to the series’ roots as a time-bending thriller after the disappointing Terminator Salvation, which was set in the future. After a drawn out development period, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke was cast to play a young Sarah Connor, with Die Hard 5′s Jai Courtney cast as Kyle Reese, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes favourite Jason Clarke signed up for the role of John Connor
The film, which is the first in a new trilogy, is said to shifts the timeline further into the past, though firm details on the plot have yet to be released. It is expected to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
Later this summer, the former bodybuilder returns to star in The Expendables 3 alongside other iconic action heros like Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and Mel Gibson. The story follows the mercenary group as they come into conflict with ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (played by Gibson), the co-founder of the Expendables, who is determined to destroy the team. Also featuring Kellan Lutz, Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas, The Expendables 3 is set for release in the UK on August 14.
Arnold is then also set to star in Maggie, opposite Abigail Breslin, about a girl infected with a mysterious disease that causes those infected to slowly morph into zombies.
