Pulling out last year’s winter clothes can be depressing.
Often the coats, jerseys, and hats that were fashionable last year simply don’t work any more. But this doesn’t necessarily mean you need an entire new wardrobe, says fashion stylist Nokukhanya Ngoma.
“The cheapest way to get ‘new’ winter clothes is of course the second-hand shop, but buying all the season’s clothes from a second-hand shop could make you feel frumpy,” says Ngoma.
“Use the second-hand shop for key winter items that you’d pay a fortune for if you bought them new. Try to get a good second-hand deal on items like jackets and long coats.”
When it comes to coats, it’s best to stick to colours like black, white and grey, suggests Ngoma.
“You can never go wrong with a black coat; it’s just one of those items that never goes out of fashion.”
Items such as hats are usually quite affordable and can update your winter wardrobe easily.
“Throw away your old beanies. You can ruin a great outfit by wearing a worn-out old beanie,” says Ngoma.
“Replace it with a black wide brim hat or a classic Fedora hat to give yourself a chic and trendy new look.
